Heidi Acosta

THW/Medicaid Doula & Private Pay

My name is Heidi Acosta. I was born in Nayarit, Mexico but have lived in Oregon most of my life. I am fluent in English and Spanish. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, cheering my son at his baseball games, playing dress up with my very sassy daughter, being outdoors and working out. I am passionate about caring for others, especially marginalized communities that have historically had disproportionately lower access to support services during pregnancy.

As a dedicated doula with a passion for culturally competent and trauma informed care, I am committed to providing unwavering support to mothers and families during one of the most transformative moments of their lives.

With a deep respect for the rich tapestries of cultures and traditions that make childbirth unique, I approach my work with a cultural competence. I understand that every mother brings her own background and values to the birthing experience. By acknowledging and respecting them as the experts of their birthing experience, I ensure that I am fostering an environment of trust and comfort.

I recognize the potential for trauma- related issues to arise during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. My trauma-informed approach allows me to provide compassionate care, creating a safe and nurturing space for mothers to heal and thrive.

I provide unwavering emotional support, offering a calming presence during labor and the
postpartum period. I firmly believe that informed choices lead to empowered experiences. I equip mothers with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their birthing preferences. I assure their needs and wants are being heard, respected and that they remain in the driver’s seat during the entire process.

My mission as a doula is to be a pillar of strength, compassion, and cultural understanding for mothers on their incredible journey to motherhood. Together we can create a nurturing and empowering experience.
