The Diverse Doula Program
The Diverse Doula Program (DDP) is a community based doula program dedicated to creating spaces for diverse doulas, especially Black, Indigenous, Latino/a/x, Asian and other racially and linguistically diverse, underrepresented doulas. We aim to reclaim, celebrate, and provide mentorship and emotional support to practice their cultural and traditional birth and postpartum models of care.
The purpose for DDP is to provide expectant parents the ability to match with culturally specific doulas in order to successfully navigate and mitigate social determinants of health such as racism, stress, poverty, education, employment, housing, and access to other culturally specific services.

Why CDA Doulas are Distinct
The Diverse Doula Program is composed of passionate individuals committed to empowering families with culturally specific care. Each doula brings unique skills and experiences to our mission, ensuring comprehensive support for our community.
Comprehensive Training
CDA Doulas have completed a comprehensive doula training based on an equity framework, trauma-informed concepts, & hands-on experience to be ready for their vital role in supporting families in their community.
Community Based
A community based doula is a trusted member of their respective community who tends to provide more prenatal and postpartum visits centering their in-depth care to celebrate and honor cultural and traditional practices.
Lived Experiences
Many CDA doulas identify as members of racial, ethnic, linguistic, religious, LGBTQ2IA+, and/or lived experience (addictions, homelessness, DV/IPV, teen pregnancy, refugee, military, incarcerated, etc.) to truly understand the community they serve.
Cultural Advocacy
Culturally specific doulas help families successfully navigate and mitigate social determinants of health such as racism, stress, poverty, education, employment, housing, and access to other culturally specific services through our community network.
