About Community Doula Alliance

Community Doula Alliance is a Black-led non-profit organization committed to addressing maternal and infant health disparities. Our mission is to provide modern, professional, and relevant training for birth workers, ensuring that every family has access to exceptional doula care. Based in Portland, Oregon, we support families and train the next generation of doulas to make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Current Job Openings

Traditional Health Worker (THW) Credentialed Doula

Portland, OR

Provide compassionate support to families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum periods. Must be THW credentialed with the state of Oregon and have lived experience in one or more marginalized communities (Black, Indigenous, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, LGBTQ2IA+, mental health, addiction, etc.). 

Doula Program Coordinator

Portland, OR

This hybrid position will oversee and coordinate our doula matching process to families seeking support from our Diverse Doula Program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Connect clients to culturally and linguistically matched doulas in the hub.
  2. Organize and facilitate:
    • Nourishing Greatness Gatherings (21/year)
    • Facility use for workshops or events
    • Client information in Client Management System
    • Peer reviews (2/year)
  3. Hold weekly virtual office hours to assist doulas with questions about training, registration, and credentialing with CCOs.
  4. Attend bi-weekly leadership team meetings and provide updates.
  5. Work alongside with Operations Officer to ensure timely data entry, billing and payroll.
  6. Filter incoming and outgoing communications to appropriate parties within and outside of the organization.

Secondary Responsibilities: Depending on monthly referral volumes, the Doula Coordinator may also:

  1. Coordinate annual update meetings with hospital, birth center, and behavioral health staff, as well as homebirth midwives who provide referrals in our service area.
  2. Prepare and help deliver presentations about the program to community groups.
  3. Assist with CDA social media and the “doulas only” section of the website.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills.
  • Clear and compassionate written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to reply to program emails and referrals within 48 to 72 hours of receipt whenever possible.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, with a preference for bilingual candidates in English and Spanish.
  • Training will be provided on the job, with a preference for individuals with previous doula experience, medical billing experience, and/or knowledge of the Medicaid billing process.
