Why Join the Bridge Program?

The Community Doula Alliance’s Bridge Program is designed to help trained doulas complete the requirements to be part of the THW Registry!

Doula training programs don’t cover what it takes to get things like an NPI or help with Medicaid billing.

That’s why we created the “Bridge” program – where you are matched with an experienced doula to meet the THW prerequisites and get supported by CDA through the process of completing the remaining requirements and paperwork in order to be successfully be listed on the THW registry and as an Oregon Medicaid Provider.

Who Is This For?

This program is perfect for doulas who:

  • Have completed an OHA approved doula training.
  • Are passionate about providing compassionate support to families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
  • Want become a Birth Doula on the Oregon THW Registry and support Oregon Health Plan (OHP) Members as an Oregon Medicaid Provider.
  • Have lived experience in marginalized communities (Black, Indigenous, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, LGBTQ2IA+, mental health, addiction, etc.).
  • Are committed to community, mentorship, and the collective growth of Community Doula Alliance.

Eligibility Must-Haves

If you’re considering the Bridge program, you must have the following:

  • Completed the Community Doula Alliance Birth and Postpartum Doula Training or OHA Approved Training*
  • Completed the CPR course
  • Obtained an National Provider Identification Number

*You must complete the Community Doula Alliance Birth and Postpartum Doula Training or an OHA Approved Training before entering the Bridge program to ensure prospective mentees are equipped with the basic skills and knowledge necessary for the mentorship experience and the THW registration process.

Who is Community Doula Alliance?

Community Doula Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families and training future doulas in the Portland, Oregon area. We focus on providing culturally specific care and advocating for maternal health equity.

Will this program train me to become a doula?

No. This is NOT our doula training program. If you are interested in training, please click here to join the waitlist for our next training opportunity.

This program is here to help trained doulas to provide mentorship, complete the paperwork process, and obtain the 3 births needed to fulfill the requirements and be part of the THW Registry.

How much does the Bridge Program cost?

The membership investment is $500 annually. This ensures you are available for clients within the year of joining and you are able to take advantage of the full services CDA has to offer. Payment options are discussed upon acceptance into the program.

We do also other options for Bridge enrollment:

  1. If you are already trained – Add the Bridge component & Membership package for $850.
  2. If you need to be trained – sign up for our whole package that includes CDA Training, Bridge, & Membership for $2350.
How can I become a doula with CDA?

There are many options to work with CDA as a doula!

  • If you have not been trained previously, you can complete our Portland Doula Training Program, which is OHA approved for THW credentialing. We offer comprehensive education and hands-on skill building. To join, simply sign up to our waitlist for the next training session and begin your journey to becoming a trained doula
  • If you have completed a doula training and need to complete the THW process, you can sign up for our Bridge program that will help you obtain all of the requirements needed for state & CCO credentialing.
  • If you are already a THW credentialed doula and are looking to be part of the Diverse Doula Program Membership, join our waitlist for the next opportunity in 2025.

How do I get matched with a culturally specific families?

Families complete a form detailing their preferences and needs. Our team reviews each submission in order to connect you with a family who aligns with your cultural background, linguistic abilities, experience while considering your availability based on estimated due date. Families are encouraged to interview doulas where they can finalize their choice and start working with you for prenatal, birth, and postpartum support!
