Ali Buchanan

Ali Buchanan (she/her/ella) is a certified full spectrum doula and childbirth educator where she is honored to work with parents and families to transition into their new roles before and after birth.

She’s also the Operations Coordinator for Evidence Based Birth®, an organization that provides current research and best practices in order to empower and educate families across the globe. Before answering her calling to birth work, Ali completed a BA in Psychology from Miami University and went on to obtain her MS degree from Eastern Illinois University in Higher Education, where she focused her thesis on Ethnic Lesbian Identity Development within the African American and Latinx communities.

She has a passion for working with underrepresented communities, advocating for mental health/self-care, and empowering others to be their best selves! Personally, Ali is a wife and mom of two rambunctious boys, ages 3 and 6 and resided in Tigard from 2018-2022 where she was a member of the City’s Planning Commission before moving to Beaverton. Ali also volunteers as a co-host for the Doula Debrief Podcast created by the Community Doula Association and she is excited to be a board member, soon-to-be trainer, and, most importantly, active CDA doula to the Portland community!
